ALICIA DOWELL

I am a Licensed Therapist in Cedar Park with a passion to help individuals begin their journey to healing, restoration and self discovery. I believe in aiding others in a deeper understanding of their own story and how it all works together in creating their uniqueness. We are all individuals but we share a common thread that connects us, life can be painful and oftentimes difficult to navigate. Therapy is a tool to help you navigate those painful, difficult, and confusing circumstances that can feel overwhelming and impossible at times. I value coming alongside you, as my client, and facilitating a healing space that honors what you have been through and what you may need. My approach is highly relational, insight oriented, and interactive. We can only really heal once we truly understand, with compassion, care, and clarity, the function and source of our pain.

Finding the right fit for your therapeutic journey is of utmost importance. If you feel I would be a good fit please reach out and I am happy to answer any questions you might have.

I have a particular interest in working with individuals that come from a family background where they experienced wounding from caregiver(s) and/or other family members. These attachment wounds often communicate negative and untrue messages about oneself, value, and purpose in the world. I have a passion to help individuals identify and witness these wounds from an adult perspective, bringing clarity and insight to the younger parts that were not capable of understanding. When wounding is caused in an undeveloped brain and isn’t addressed, it can cause parts of us to get stuck in the past. This feels confusing and at times debilitating, especially when other parts of us are trying to move forward and mature.

I utilize my attachment training as well as the Internal Family Systems lens to address these wounds and to aid the individual in integration and wholeness of oneself.

I also have a special interest in helping individuals from a Christian background that are looking to work through spiritual wounds from either their church, family of origin, and/or other trauma that has directly impacted their view of spirituality and God. Faith is oftentimes a source of strength and resource for individuals but unfortunately, can also come with a lot of baggage and destructive messages. Since wholeness and integration is essential to living in line with our true self, I have a passion to help those who experience their faith as important but broken.
